814. 新潟県知事選挙で原発再稼働慎重派の米山隆一氏勝利ー2016.10.16 [政治―選挙、社会ー原発]

原子力発電所の再稼働が争点になった新潟県知事選挙で、再稼働慎重派で共産党など野党が推薦した候補が、原則的に再稼働賛成派で自民・公明両党が推薦した候補を破って当選しました。
東京電力柏崎刈羽原発の再稼働への対応が争点になった新潟県知事選挙は、16日に投開票が行われ、原発の再稼働に慎重な姿勢を示してきた現職の知事の路線を継承すると訴えてきた医師で弁護士の米山隆一氏が、共産党、自由党、社民党の推薦を受け、無所属の新人で立候補し、原則的に原発再稼働賛成派で新潟県長岡市の前の市長で自民党と公明党の推薦を受け、無所属で新人の森民夫氏ら3人の候補を破って初めての当選を果たしました。
選挙の結果は、米山氏が52万8000票余り、森氏が46万5000票余りでした。
投票率は、53.05%で、4年前の前回の選挙と比べて9.10%高くなりました。
米山氏の当選は、原発がある都道府県で鹿児島県に続く原発再稼働慎重派の知事の誕生になります。

東京電力柏崎刈羽原子力発電所は、新潟県柏崎市と同県刈羽郡刈羽村にまたがる東京電力ホールディングスの原子力発電所です。
原子炉は、1号機から5号機が沸騰水型軽水炉で、6号機と7号機が改良型沸騰水型軽水炉です。総電気出力は、計821万2000キロワットで、7号機の営業運転開始1997年7月時点で、それまで最大だったカナダのブルース原子力発電所の出力を抜き、世界最大の原子力発電所になりました、
発電された電気は、新新潟幹線および南新潟幹線の2系統の各々50万Vの送電により一旦群馬県の西群馬開閉所に収容され、そこから山梨県を経て首都圏に送電されます。
2007年の新潟県中越沖地震の発生時、稼働するすべての原子炉は自動停止しました。3号機のすぐ横の変圧器からの火災は、地震発生から2時間後に鎮火しました。
現在1号機から7号機まで定期検査中です。

A Japanese opposition-backed candidate who has taken a cautious stance on the restart of a nuclear power plant in Niigata Prefecture on the Sea of Japan coast, has won the gubernatorial election.
The 49-year-old doctor and lawyer, Mr. Ryuichi Yoneyama, backed by the Communist Party, the Social Democratic Party, and the Liberal Party, beat the three other candidates, including the 67-year-old former mayor of Nagaoka City in Niigata Prefecture, Mr. Tamio Mori, supported by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition partner Komeito. Mr Mori supported in principle the restart of the nuclear plant.
Mr. Yoneyama succeeds outgoing Governor Hirohiko Izumida, who also expressed a cautious view about restarting the nuclear power plant.
The result followed the victory of opposition-backed Satoshi Mitazono, who had promised to achieve a halt to a local power plant in the Kagoshima gubernatorial election in southwestern Japan in July.
